Hoosier cabinet update

Our house has an extremely small pantry.  Painfully small.  For extra storage we first added an industrial bookshelf which worked fine, but all the snacks and bins were always within view.  It looked cluttered and busy.

We found this antique hoosier cabinet on craigslist.  It is an amazing piece, but was in rough shape.   It had seen lots of use and had been painted poorly many times.  While my parents were visiting, dad worked for hours stripping, sanding, priming, and repainting the base and doors.   Chad removed the hardware and stripped layers and layers of paint and grime.  He then repainted them with oil rubbed bronze spray paint.

The top of the cabinet was in the worst shape.  Chad decided to not use it at all and build a new top that would be a bit taller and deeper to house a few appliances and items we use daily.  Although the original top is full of character with the original flour sifter, the new top is perfect.  And, we were able to use the original doors and hardware.

Here is the hoosier cabinet BEFORE:

And the hoosier cabinet AFTER:

Chad customized the shelves to fit our Keurig coffee maker and large glass jars that we use daily.  It is a perfect place for a coffee bar.

It also houses pasta, cereal, our popcorn popper, the soda stream for making sparkly water...

Our k-cups and Icky's cat food fit just right in the top drawers.  Like it was meant to be.

And one last BEFORE:

This is one of the best Craigslist finds we have ever purchased.  Thank you Chad and dad for all your hard work!
