Happy Birthday Papa!

Last week Dad turned 62!  Here is how we celebrated his birthday...

Caleb and Olivia took care of dinner - pizza, bread sticks and soda.  What thoughtful kids!

We headed over to Dad's house with dinner in hand.  Here is a picture of the baby birds.  I believe there are 5 or 6 babies.  They have now gotten so big, they barely fit.  The mom and dad bird have to sit on the very edge of the nest.  It is amazing that they all fit!

After dinner, Papa opened up his presents (a guitar care kit and candy!).  Do you see Ella in the picture?  She slept through dinner, presents and cake...  preschool is rough.

Then Papa read the cards the kids made for him.

It was time to sing happy birthday!  Papa made a wish and blew out the candles.

Or so he thought!  They were trick candles that kept lighting over and over again.  Luckily, Caleb and Olivia were there to help :)

Mom made Dad's favorite cake - a delicious pineapple upside down cake.  Yum!

Chad and Dad played some cribbage.  I think Dad won.  Notice Caleb?  He wanted to play so bad.  Papa explained to Caleb that cribbage was a really hard game that not even his own daddy could play :)

So Caleb and Olivia went to the back porch and played a game of war with their own make-up-as-you-go rules.

We hope you had a Happy Birthday Papa!  We love you very much!

  1. I think it was a really good Birthday for Papa--he had so many phone calls all day long from family and friends wishing him a Happy Day!! The phones rang all day long. Then dinner and presents and cake with Aubrey and Chad and the three Grandchildren. We had such a nice evening for Papa. That is what is so wonderful with our move here. Wish it was all of our Children and Grandchildren--but we will take what we can get. We will be with Adrienne, Tom, Tommy and Riley is less than two weeks!! We are so excited to see them again-it has been too too long. Then off to Edgerton for a visit with "The Sisters" and families! We will be visiting Christopher sometime--have to wait for cooler weather there--or maybe he and Stacy will come here since it so hot there already! Life is truly good and we are so very blessed!!
