Seeing red

I have been hounding kindly asking Chad for months now to buy furniture for the kids gameroom.  Months!  We have been to every possible furniture store - one store we visited THREE (actually four if you count purchasing it...) times.  I am not so good with decisions.  Plus, this was a big purchase that we would have for a long time so it had to be right.

After finally deciding on what would work best - a couch and chair and a half - all I had to do was talk Chad into it...  this took time.

We had Pottery Barn Kids beanbags that were given to the kids by Grandma Sue for Christmas in 2007.  2007!?!  Where does the time go?!  The kids sat in them everyday.  They are well loved, well used!  But, the kids are getting bigger.  The filling in the beanbags was so worn, that you no longer sat up in them.  Don't worry, though.  These beanbags will receive new filling and will be placed in the kids rooms for a reading chair.

Take a look at what we chose - red!

It is a gameroom after all :)

I found the coffee table and end table on Craigslist.  They were nothing fancy and in rough shape.  Chad offered the lady $20 and they were ours. Chad sanded them and I painted them with a navy blue paint to compliment the red fabric.    Perfect for a gameroom!

There is still plenty of room to play behind the couch - a perfect spot for their craft table.  Also a Craigslist purchase.  Chad simply cut down the legs to make it child size.

Chad and I made that art caddy.  Actually, Chad did.  But, it was an idea I saw on a blog... do I get some credit?  The lazy susan is from IKEA and is around $7.  Mom and I found the red pails at Hobby Lobby on clearance awhile back for 50% off.  The small pails were 99 cents and the big pail in the middle was $1.99.  Cheap project, great organization!

Looks like our table needs to be cleaned :(

Next, I plan to sew new pillows in bright colors.  Can't have too much red :)

What do you think?  Do you like the red furniture?

  1. LOVE the Red!!! The game room looks great--less like a toy room, but still lots of space to play. Love the blue tables too. The kids are so lucky to have all this...
